It’s a good thing the Rose Bowl was more interested in preserving its “tradition,” because USC-Georgia wouldn’t have been nearly as fun to watch or as relevant as USC-Illinois and Hawaii-Georgia. I hope those bowl ratings Gordon Gee was hiding behind are absolutely soaring with this slate.

In addition to the aforementioned fake playoffs, now we can have instant gratification/dissatisfaction with the current system: just run the College Football Playoffs Simulations from ESPN.
CommishRob’s first simulation? SC wins it all.
CommishPhil’s didn’t go so well, as Hawaii thrashed USC in the first round (using the BCS seeding).

Let me tell you what college fantasy football has done for me. The Urban Poet is not necessarily a major college football fan. Like any good Trojan, he loves SC, hates UCLA, and talks trash about Notre Dame. Like any wise Trojan, he secretly hopes his future children will prefer UCLA, as the Urban Poet [...]

As we reported earlier, Jay Mohr likes to make jokes about USC being in a bad neighborhood and paying their players. Well, he’s at it again:
I am brand spanking new to the college game. I never went to college (I got rejected by a lot of them though) so I never had a team to [...]

The Pac-10 vs. SEC feud rages unchecked over at Bleacher Reportbeta, where Leon Wynn crunches a few numbers and comes to the conclusion that the SEC is truly THE powerhouse in college football. One of the stats he pulls out is the SEC’s non-conference record:
Since 2000, the SEC has the nation’s best nonconference record (including [...]
