Stat of the week, courtesy of Ivan Maisel

From Mr. Maisel:
UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel has measured up to USC coach Pete Carroll. The Trojans’ 14 losses over the course of Carroll’s seven-plus seasons have been by a total of 59 points. The Bruins needed only one 59-point loss for Neuheisel to tie Carroll.

He should be catching up on total losses here pretty soon [...]

Westwood bike lane stupidest in America

We’re pretty sure that this has nothing to do with UCLA, but we’re going to try to pin it on them all the same: Westwood is the home of the stupidest bike lane in America.

USC is Pac-10’s “clutch team past” (or whatever)

SC’s second-place ranking got you down? Well, take heart in the fact that we are nevertheless the Pac-10’s “clutch team past.” We’re not really sure what that means, but here’s the evidence in favor:
The record speaks for itself. The Trojans:

Own 11 national titles in five different decades.
Own the highest all-time winning percentage vs. NCAA [...]

The USC-UCLA rivalry: like Christmas in July

Bill Plaschke is excited about the revitalized crosstown rivalry between USC and UCLA
[T]he shiny, new-car feel to this rivalry needs no clarification.

Neuheisel’s (mal)performance (dis)incentives

Apparently UCLA has decided to take precautions against a repeat of some of Skippy Neuheisel’s past antics:
The really interesting stuff, according to the [Los Angeles] Times: He can’t get bonuses and will be required to pay back any previous bonuses if the football program is put on NCAA probation or is “subsequently sanctioned for NCAA [...]

Spring football update

As Kansas cancels classes to celebrate Memphis’ inability to shoot free-throws, the rest of us are watching and reading about the 20 most meaningless practices of the year—because that’s all the college football we get until August 28th. (135 days and counting.)
Alabama is in the post-Major Applewhite era, and seems very happy with the new [...]

USC and UCLA to bring us back to 1981

It looks like Skippy Neuheisel seems to want the best part of the SC/UCLA rivalry to come back.

According to Tracy Pierson of BruinReportOnline.com, Neuheisel and Trojan coach Pete Carroll have agreed to have each team wear home uniforms when the two rivals meet on Dec. 6 at the Rose Bowl.
Before 1982, the teams had a [...]

Good for Coach O

I’m surprised Neuheisel didn’t go after him. Perhaps because DeWayne would’ve felt overshadowed?
