Week 10 TV/Announcer Line-up

From, as always, Awful Announcing:
Tonight: The Battle of the Techs, with the lovely Erin Andrews on the sidelines. I might watch, since there’s nothing else sports-related on television, but these two teams are seriously dull.
Saturday:

Early Games: Wisconsin at Ohio State on the Big Ten Network (noon Eastern). For those of you without DirecTV enjoy not [...]

Best rivalries?

Fanblogs brings us StubHub’s list of 2007’s Top 25 College Football Rivalries, and, wouldn’t you know it, USC shows up twice in the top five.

Cowan out, Olson in

The injury bug gives Ben Olson his job back. Bad news for the Bruins and good news for Oregon State.

Pac-10 vs. SEC, Round 24

As SI considers the ‘Pac-10 vs. SEC’ question, Bill Trocchi seeks some outside help in constructing his latest conference power rankings:

For this particular exercise, I forwarded Ken White, the senior oddsmaker for Las Vegas Sports Consultants, 10 hypothetical matchups. Keep in mind that White’s company sets the odds for 90 percent of the casinos [...]

The greatest beatdowns

In honor of SC’s beatdown of Nebraska (and Utah’s beatdown of UCLA, Michigan’s beatdown of Notre Dame, etc.), we bring your attention to “The greatest beatdowns in history.” USC, and the Pac-10 in general, make a few appearances in the top 100:

18. 2005 Orange Bowl: USC wins second straight national title with 55-19 win over [...]

Road Hazards

The Star-Telegram has a nice treatment of what’s shaping up to be a brutal road schedule for the Trojans:

Two weeks into the season, the Pacific-10 Conference has earned plenty of woooooo-eeeeeee’s. The Left Coast League is the second-best only to the Southeastern Conference.
The conference went 7-0 Saturday. The only loss of Week 2 was Oregon [...]

Apparently I am not the only one

It seems that others, after actually watching USC play Idaho, were not impressed either.
When your big boys don’t step up, it’s a problem no matter who the opponent is. Until they are consistent, games like Oregon State and UCLA can jump up and kill the dream season.

Business as usual this season at USC?

Usually at this point of the college football year (and make no mistake, it didn’t take ESPN airing a daily “College Football Live” to prove that college football is now a year-round sport), hysteria runs rampant. The preseason guides are on newsstands, polls and predictions are being made by every myopic fan and blogger from [...]

#31: Bushwhacked

A bit of a slow weekend for sports (although we’ll admit that the finish of the British Open was fairly entertaining), so we thought we’d dig back into The 100. Reggie Bush makes his second appearance,* this time against Oregon State in 2006:
It’s hard to say if Reggie Bush’s 65-yard punt return for a [...]

The comeback that wasn’t

I was impressed to see SC get within a good decision of taking Oregon State to overtime.  However, again this team is not as good as the 2003-2004 Trojans because they cannot pressure the quarterback with the front four and until that happens SC is vulnerable every week.
Now on the 2-point conversion why did we [...]
