Apparently Stewart Mandel wants his alma mater to get on ND’s schedule again. Does anyone think that ND is going to join a conference? Come on—they don’t need the money or the exposure, so (sorry Stewart) I doubt that Kevin White is going to respond to your letter.

An ingenious SC fan is trying to give away tickets to the Washington St game. (Anytime I can mention something related to Magnum PI, I will.)

Finally, it looks like Tank Top Watch is off tonight as the weather in Miami does not look good. And I was so looking forward to what the ESPN producers would put Erin Andrews in.

The weekend opens with Texas A&M at Miami and Erin Andrews probably in a tank top—YEAH! (Erin will also be in Tampa for South Florida, so it might be a tank top twofer.)

We’ll see if Coach Fran really has a team that can compete with Texas and Oklahoma.

The GE/NBC train wreck returns with “Sparty” coming to South Bend. Right now, I think ND needs to worry about positive rushing yards before it worries about points.

Ron Franklin and Ed Cunningham are following Ohio State around: they get the Buckeyes Big 11 opener at N’western after seeing them throttle the Huskies in Seattle. Michigan gets 4 home games in a row; nice job, Mr. Big 11 Schedule Maker. And we’ll see if Penn State is as good as Herbie says they are.

CBS brings you to Baton Rouge for the Head Ball Coach and the Gamecocks’ visit. Gameday and the ESPN Primetime game (Mike Patrick shut up) are in Tuscaloosa as Georgia looks to get to 1-1 in conference.

ABC will show part of the country Wazzu at USC while Brent and Kirk head to Madison for Iowa at Wisconsin.

Finally, the night ends in Pasadena as UCLA tries to bounce back against Jake Locker and the Huskies.

CollegeFootballNews.com has taken a stab at the Big Eleven’s schedule and predicts a tie for the Conference title and Rose Bowl bid for Wisconsin. Wisconsin and Michigan will finish the season at 11-1, says CFN, with Wisconsin ending Michigan’s undefeated season the week after Ohio State upset the Badgers in Columbus. The Buckeyes will finish in a 4th place tie with Iowa while Penn State will end up 10-2 and third. I agree that Wisconsin will win the Big Eleven but I really don’t think that Lloyd Carr will bounce back after last year’s Rose Bowl debacle; Michigan will flame out in 2007.

With just over 2 days until the first game of the season most teams have decided, finally who will start at QB in their opener. Texas has selected Colt McCoy, Texas Tech will go with Graham Harrell, and Northwestern will start Mike Kafka on Thursday against Miami of Ohio. However, the Cal Bears and their Top 10 ranking are yet to name a starter. Coach Tedford should make it Nate Longshore for the game at Tennessee. Joe Ayoob was terrible in game situations last year and if they choose Ayoob based on how he does it practice it will be 0-1 for the Golden Bears.
