Well we come to Halloween and we might know less about college football than we knew two months ago. I am stunned that the SEC has teams #1 & #2 and they both looked awful this past Saturday. Of course, USC played no defense for the 5th consecutive quarter and they need to be up for a 60-minute battle at Autzen with the loud crowd on Halloween night. Texas plays the last game they will not be at least a double-digit favorite in when they travel to Stillwater to play the Dez Bryant-less Oklahoma State Cowboys. I hope that we get to November with more chaos and more questions as clarity in college football is not nearly as much fun.

Tuesday, October 27th

Hey look—ESPN gives you a Tuesday night game because there is no baseball and I really hope that Lou Holtz’s microphone breaks or he loses his voice and cannot speak because he is terrible. So, don’t watch unless you are betting on the game.

East Carolina @ Memphis (ESPN2, 8pm) – Rece Davis, Mark May, Lou Holtz, Rob Stone

Thursday, October 29th

Game 2 of the World Series goes against another ACC Thursday night. I swear that Chris Fowler must be sick of watching bad ACC teams play entertaining games. A trip to Blacksburg is apparently something that college football fans should do, but at this point they’ve choked away their season and are now just an afterthought since starting the season in the Top 10.

North Carolina @ Virginia Tech (ESPN, 7:30pm) – Chris Fowler, Craig James, Jesse Palmer, Erin Andrews

Friday, October 30th

Off night for the World Series brings us Friday night in the Big East as West Virginia (who needs to win out to fight for the Big East title) travels to Tampa to bury South Florida (who seems to think the season ends after Week 6).

West Virginia @ South Florida (ESPN2, 8pm) – Joe Tessitore, Rod Gilmore

Saturday, October 31st

Ok, so I am stunned by the Gameday decision to go to Eugene for SC/Oregon. I had them back with Texas and in Stillwater since they seem to think America would rather watch Texas than USC (80% of America got the Texas game last week). However, they decided that a trip to Autzen would be more fun and they can talk about the turnaround at Oregon, LeGarrette Blount, and then Matt Barkley and what happened to the SC defense. They also left Kirk and Brent to call the SC game so then they can have Kirk with Chris on the set after the game on SportsCenter as well.

The Indiana-Iowa game gives ESPN the opportunity to prop up Iowa and show how great they might be, or they can show them choke it away when a bad Indiana team visits Kinnick Stadium. That is the only game worth watching at Noon.

  • Indiana @ Iowa (ESPN, Noon) – Mark Jones, Bob Davie
  • Purdue @ Wisconsin (ESPN2, Noon) – Pam Ward, Ray Bentley
  • Cincinnati @ Syracuse (ESPNU, Noon) – Clay Matvick, David Diaz-Infante
  • New Mexico State @ Ohio State (BTN, Noon) – Matt Rosen, Anthony Herron
  • Mississippi @ Auburn (SEC Network, Noon) – Dave Neal, Andre Ware, Cara Capuano (Will Air on MSG, FS Detroit; CSN California, Washington+)
  • Rutgers @ Connecticut (Big East Network, Noon) – Mike Gleason, John Congemi, Quint Kessenich (Will Air on Altitude, CST, MASN, SNY)
  • North Carolina State @ Florida State (Raycom, Noon) – Steve Martin, Rick Walker, Mike Hogewood
  • Akron @ Northern Illinois (ESPN Plus, Noon) – Michael Reghi, Doug Chapman

  • Missouri @ Colorado (FSN, 1:30pm) – Bill Land, Gary Reasons, Emily Jones
  • Coastal Carolina @ Clemson (ESPN360, 1:30pm) – Ryan Rose, Jeremy Bloom

At 3:30 Eastern the slate of games also is terrible and the ABC regional games are all not worth watching so you should find CBS and hear Verne and Gary slurp Tebow for 4 hours because they should bury this very average Georgia team at the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

  • San Jose State @ Boise State (KTVB, 3pm) – Mark Johnson, Tom Scott, David Augusto
  • Florida v. Georgia (CBS, 3:30pm) – Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson
  • Michigan @ Illinois (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30pm) – Mike Patrick, Craig James
  • Kansas @ Texas Tech (ABC, 3:30pm) – Ron Franklin, Ed Cunningham
  • Miami @ Wake Forest (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30pm) – Bob Wischusen, Brian Griese

  • Temple @ Navy (CBS College Sports, 3:30pm) – Dave Ryan, Randy Cross
  • Duke @ Virginia (ESPN360, 3:30pm) – Frank Giardina, Danny Kanell
  • Arkansas State @ Louisville (WHAS, 4pm) – Drew Deener, Doug James (Will Air on SNY)

  • Air Force @ Colorado State (MTN, 4pm) – James Bates, Todd Christensen, Roger Bailey
  • Hawaii @ Nevada (Time Warner-Oceanic, 4pm) – Jim Leahey, Russell Yamaoha

  • Penn State @ Northwestern (ESPN, 4:30pm) – Carter Blackburn, Chris Spielman
  • Louisiana Tech @ Idaho (ESPN Plus, 5pm) – Trey Bender, Jay Taylor (Will Air on Altitude2, MASN)

ABC saves the day on Saturday night. Amazingly enough, they have decided to give America both the SC/Oregon and Texas/Oklahoma St. You will get one on your ABC affiliate and the other on ESPN2 (Not ESPN because they just signed a 15-year deal with the SEC so on the 4-letter you get South Carolina at Tennessee). No other games matter this week as Alabama is off awaiting LSU.

  • Kansas State @ Oklahoma (FSN, 7pm) – Joel Meyers, Dave Lapham, Jim Knox
  • Eastern Michigan @ Arkansas (ESPNU, 7pm) – Eric Collins, Brock Huard
  • Mississippi State @ Kentucky (SEC Network, 7pm) – Bob Rathbun, Dave Archer, Jenn Hildreth (Will Air on FS South, SUN)
  • Washington State v. Notre Dame (NBC, 7:30pm) – Tom Hammond, Pat Haden, Alex Flanagan
  • New Mexico @ San Diego State (CBS College Sports, 7:30pm) – Tom Hart, Aaron Taylor
  • Georgia Tech @ Vanderbilt (SEC Network, 7:30pm) – Doug Bell, Chris Doering (Will Air on CSS, CST, Comcast Network)
  • South Carolina @ Tennessee (ESPN, 7:45pm) – Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Erin Andrews
  • USC @ Oregon (ABC/ESPN2, 8pm) – Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Lisa Salters
  • Texas @ Oklahoma State (ABC/ESPN2, 8pm) – Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Holly Rowe
  • Michigan State @ Minnesota (BTN, 8pm) – Wayne Larrivee, Chris Martin, Rebecca Haarlow
  • Wyoming @ Utah (MTN, 8pm) – Ari Wolfe, Blaine Fowler, Sammy Linebaugh
  • Tulane @ Louisiana State (Tiger Vision PPV, 8pm) – Doug Greengard, Rene Nadeau, Kevin Guidry

Sunday, November 1st

Watch Game 4 of the World Series.

  • Marshall @ Central Florida (ESPN, 8:15pm) – Dave Lamont, JC Pearson

Have a great weekend, enjoy the games, and thanks to Awful Announcing for the week’s TV Schedule.
