For the longest time I have hated the work of Terry Bowden. No one cheered more when ABC sent him packing from the studio show. However, when he tells a story about one of my favorite college football players and it’s really interesting, let me be the first to say: Good work, Terry. Most people have forgotten Jay Barker (unless you’re reading this in Alabama) but I remember how great he was leading Gene Stalling’s Crimson Tide teams in the early 90′s. His play in the ’92 season (which culminated with a blowout of Miami in the Sugar Bowl) reminds of how a great college QB can be all the difference for a good team. So, sit back and enjoy Bowden’s story about how Jay Barker’s mom got him a scholarship in a most unusual way.
