Okay, so we’ve all spent untold hours ranting about the college football postseason and the future of the BCS. SI’s Stewart Mandel has put together what I think is a detailed, well-researched piece about the future of the BCS and the plus-one model that looks increasingly likely.

My personal belief is that a plus-one is going to happen, and that a plus-one is a glorified playoff, and that a decade after the plus-one debuts, the powers that be will realize that they’re making so much more money with this tiny playoff that they’ll expand it to eight teams because money wins out. So plus-one is the gateway drug. Again, my two cents.
