In a complete overreaction, the AP powers that be have decided that voters can vote for anyone in 1-A or 1-AA in their Top 25. Why is this an overreaction? Well, an upset like this is still an extremely rare occurrence, and after next week no one’s going to give a crap about 1-AA football until December (when 1-A is in the middle of its 45-day nap till the Fake Title game).
So look out, Clemson and Tennessee: your place in the rankings might go away so that the writers can make Appalachian State a ranked team for a week.

This is probably the first of many attempts by the AP to try and make itself relevant since it dropped out of the BCS forumla. I agree Rob, it is quite an unnecessary overreaction. Just a matter of time before a bunch of idiots start tossing 3 or 4 D1-AA schools in their pre-season polls for no reason other than to be That Guy. That Guy sucks.
