The folks at covers.com say yes. Here’s the excerpt from their take on the biggest point spreads of opening weekend:

Can they cover? YES

Wow. This is A lot of points, but then again, this is a huge mismatch. To be fair, it’s really the only cupcake on USC’s schedule and if last year’s season opener is any indication (50-14 win at Arkansas) Pete Carroll isn’t shy about running up the score to send a message.

We probably shouldn’t put too much stock in Jim Harbaugh’s comment that this year’s Trojans might be “the best team in the history of college football,” but this squad is certainly stacked. And Idaho is not. Last year the Vandals played two Pac-10 teams early the season and lost by a combined score of 94-10. I think we all know what’s going to happen in this one.
