While Ivan Maisel tried to say that the Flutie to Phalen play was the best in College Football history, he is wrong. The guys at College Football News, on the other hand, get it right by taking us back almost 25 years to the play that kept John Elway from ever playing in a bowl game. Interestingly enough, #2 on the CFN list is the Boise State/OU Fiesta Bowl—the best 4th quarter in any game we can remember.

Hmmmm, I’m sensing a little resentment coming from Rob against his arch-nemesis John “The Drive” Elway. I would still put the Flutie hail mary at #1. The Play was sensational and exciting to be sure, but the overall impact on college football afterward was minimal. The hail mary though, sealed the deal for Flutie winning the Heisman not to mention it was between Top 15 ranked teams. I just think that the BC hail mary gets the #1 spot by a slim margin due to it having more impact overall.
